This chapter is intended as a research tool useful in the growing efforts of researchers working toward a more complete awareness of women's history in Latin America. It represents the fullest compilation of periodicals by and for women in Latin America to date. When information regarding an entry was supplied by a written source other than the periodical itself, the reference is noted in brackets after the entry. Additionally, a list of library catalogs, data bases, and bibliographic essays that provided names of magazines and information on their publication is presented. In some cases, information on entries was gleaned from contemporary periodicals that have variously advertised, corresponded with, or criticized sister publications from the earliest records here.
