This concluding chapter sums up the key findings of this taxonomic review of the Sthenurine. This study has presented a detailed phylogenetic hypothesis regarding the origin of sthenurines and their interrelationships, and has examined the dominant trends in the evolution of the sthenurine craniodental system from a functional standpoint. Thie chapter suggests that hypotheses concerning the spread of sthenurines though time and space will be tested as our knowledge of late Cenozoic geochronology and biostratigraphy continues to improve.
