This chapter examines the impact of climate change on the biodiversity of mayflies. It predicts future trends in mayfly fauna as a result of climate change in the light of the environmental tolerances, life-cycle plasticity, and dispersal mechanisms of present-day mayflies. The chapter suggests that during periods of rapid environmental transition, generalist species will do better, while specialists with strict environmental limits and poor powers of dispersal may become extinct.
