Systematic Review of the Wingless Stoneflies, Scopuridae

Show Summary Details

This chapter presents a systematic review of the wingless stonefly family of Scopuridae. It reviews all known stages and species of the family, not only to provide differential diagnoses and identification keys but also to discuss further the phylogeny and biogeography. The chapter proposes the existence of two clades in Scorupidae, which is supported by the synapomorphic characters of the posteromedian process on the eighth abdominal sternum of female adults and the elongated process on the basal cerci of male adults.
