This chapter examines the adult lives of activists during the 1980s and 1990s, analyzing the ways that libertarians and leftists followed different trajectories from traditionalists in terms of occupations and lifestyle. It notes that although politics remains central to the identity of both SDS and YAF members, as they have aged the competing interests of work and family have pulled many people away from activism. The chapter also examines the lives of the children of activists as the formation of political identity becomes complete.
