This chapter presents a transcript of Suzuki Roshi's third talk on the Sandokai. It focuses on these lines from the poem: The spiritual source shines clear in the light; the branching streams flow on in the dark. Grasping at things is surely delusion; according with sameness is still not enlightenment. In the first line, the source is something wonderful, something beyond description, beyond our words. What Buddha talked about is the source of the teaching, beyond discrimination of right and wrong.
