This chapter studies the community of Guadalupe Tepeyac in order to understand the process by which some indigenous activists and ejido members ultimately became members of the Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional/Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) after a long series of interactions with agrarian officials in Chiapas. This chapter also refers to some archival documents concerning interactions with the government in the ejido of the community, published and video interviews, and participant observation.
