This chapter discusses the effects of urbanization on social formations among the natives of Of, both at home and in Istanbul, during the 1970s and 1980s, and describes the celebration of Liberation Day in the Of District, noting the re-emergence of aghas there during the late 1950s. Next, it studies the portraits of mayors that hung in the municipal building in Of, which confirmed that the hegemony of the family line still existed in the town. The chapter also describes the extended grid of streets with blocks of new apartment buildings and the imperial great mosque that was added during the 1980s.
