This chapter discusses geopolitics, which emerged from obscurity in 1942. The first section introduces the term geopolitics, which was coined by Rudolf Kjellén during an 1899 polemic defending the Swedish boundaries against approaching Norwegian independence. This is followed by a discussion of German geopolitics and how Bowman served as the number one threat for the academic progenitors of German geopolitics. The chapter reveals that Arthur Dix, a German geographer, stated that geopolitics was both a requirement and product of a new age.
