This chapter discusses and introduces the concept of international history. The author uses this concept to claim that it is essential to internationalize the study of international relations, and points out that there are many studies which have a uninational focus. The chapter emphasizes that if one is to internationalize the study of international relations, he may need to reconceptualize the field of international history. It concludes that if the study of international relations is limited to the relations of sovereign states, it misses a lot of national, transnational, and international cultural, political, and economic history.
