This chapter focuses on the history of revolutionary assassinations in China. It explains that the first Chinese revolutionary to attempt political assassination was Shi Jianru who tried to kill the Manchu governor of Guangdong in October 1900. It discusses the murder or Shi Liancai, the assassination of Yang Xinfo, Wang Yaqiao's attempt to assassinate Wang Jingwei. The investigation conducted by Dai Li on the wounding of Wang Jingwei revealed that it was probably Generals Chen Mingshu and Li Jishe who ordered Wang Yaqiao to mount an assassination attempt against either Chiang Kai-shek or Wang Jingwei or both.
