This chapter shows how Hollywood has portrayed weddings in film, first listing the four main elements of a wedding film, namely romance, star power, fashion, and the attitude of the filmmaker toward the lavish wedding. It traces the changes that have occurred in wedding films over the years, although is quick to note that the girl, the guy, and the gown have still remained a part of the formula. The chapter then discusses and analyzes several wedding films from different periods, such as Father of the Bride and Four Weddings and a Funeral. It determines that the emerging trend in wedding films is toward the depiction of weddings from different cultures, or of weddings which have a distinct subcultural appeal.
