This chapter presents interviews with holistic guru Deepak Chopra and his son Gotham Chopra, revealing their religious beliefs and backgrounds. A one-man international conglomerate, Deepak Chopra virtually embodies spiritual globalization, and tirelessly pursues his mission of “bridging the technological miracles of the West with the wisdom of the East.” Spirituality, apparently, runs in the Chopra bloodline. Each Chopra had the same view of rites of passage: by drawing lines between religions, they separate us into competing, often misunderstood niches. The Chopras long for the day when people stop clinging to their religious ideologies and see each other for what they are: humans caught in that most peculiar of circumstances—their own humanity.
