This chapter discusses the Herrengasse, now called the Olga Kobylyanska, which served as a solid reflection of Czernowitz's efforts to form an urban space that followed the Kärtnerstrasse or the Graben, two of the most elegant shopping, promenading, and residential streets in Vienna. It studies the many street photos of the Hirschs that were taken in the Herrengasse, and uses the Herrengasse to bring the contrast between the remembered city and the current urban landscape into even sharper relief.
