We know that climate affects the evolution and distribution of species. Showing that climate affected human evolution is difficult because we have in effect a sample of one, in other words, the equivalent of an anecdote. Climate definitely affected our spread around the world, however. For example, we arrived far later in the cold, northern latitudes than in the tropical latitudes outside of Africa.
