This chapter presents the author's thoughts during a trip to Greece with his daughter in the summer of 2009. He describes conversations with an anthropology student whom he first met in 1983. He says that traveling comes as close to utopia as is humanly possible, for you never really arrive at the place you set out for, but pass through indeterminate zones of which you have no real knowledge and in which you have no real place. Leaving Boston, his American life had been instantly eclipsed. Within hours it seemed like a previous incarnation.
