From around 2000BC the ritual monuments of the Neolithic period seem to have fallen into disuse. This chapter examines the emergence of societies using Beaker pottery; a ceramic style known across much of Western Europe. Several of the best known Beaker period settlements lie in the Western Isles including those at Dalmore, Rosinish, and Northton.
