Gleaning involves taking what is discarded and re-envisioning its worth; the home is a concept badly in need of such a treatment. The chapter reviews feminist critiques and re-evaluations of the home. Critical of liberal multiculturalism and an overemphasis on mobility in some strands of globalisation literature, it draws on empirical research with Filipina domestic workers and Filipino- and Chinese- Canadian youths to think about ways of re-envisioning Vancouver as a home. In this it contributes to a growing literature on new forms of cosmopolitanism and critical multiculturalism.
