This chapter presents transcriptions of nine texts, along with linguistic commentary, drawn from interviews with Newfoundlanders and Labradorians representing a broad range of regional varieties. Seven of these speech samples, collected between 1978 and 2008, feature conservative, traditional speakers. Three of these exemplify rural southwest-English-origin varieties, while two represent Irish-origin Avalon Peninsula speech, and two come from coastal Labrador (one from an originally Inuktitut-speaking community). The final two speech samples represent contemporary younger speakers, one from urban central Newfoundland, the other from an isolated rural south coast community. All nine transcripts are accompanied by audio recordings, which can be accessed online at http://www.lel.ed.ac.uk/dialects/.
