This chapter shows the necessary interrelation between desiring-production and social production in relation to Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari's concept of desire. It explains that this analysis will allow us to re-inscribe Oedipus within the larger history of capitalism and thus show the limits of Oedipus. The chapter argues that the genealogy which Deleuze and Guattari present in Anti-Oedipus shows the slow migration of Oedipus from the limits of the primitive society to its transcendent representative in the despot to its internalisation in capitalism.
