This chapter highlights the connection between the philosophies of A.N. Whitehead and Gilles Deleuze. It explains that Deleuze has roots in an early French reader of Whitehead through the work of his teacher and colleague Jean Wahl, and that Whitehead took on a full and important role in Deleuze's preparation of his book The Fold: Leibniz and the Baroque. The chapter argues that Whitehead was the catalyst for a rare moment of bile in Deleuze's lectures and writing, and considers the possibility that Deleuze and Whitehead belong to the same school or to similar philosophical movements.
