This chapter investigates the obvious presence of narcissism and nostalgia in Sassoon’s works, which two concepts have psychological and literary roots, and can present tropes that shed some light on Sassoon’s autobiographical project. It notes the three autobiographical prose volumes that Sassoon published between the mid-1930s and mid-1940s, determining that his personal withdrawal shows some important discursive practices with his contemporaries and literary tradition.
