This chapter examines the linkage between Gloria Anzaldúa's Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza and Gilles Deleuze's philosophy on queer hybridity. It explores the potentialities that an ontological turn would open for queer theory, and explains that Anzaldúa and Deleuze's ontologies signify futurity in that they are rooted in becoming rather than being. Despite differences, divergences and discords in the philosophies of Anzaldúa and Deleuze, they are both concerned with thinking about the becoming of an interrelated universe.

Keywords: Gloria Anzaldúa; Borderlands; Gilles Deleuze; queer hybridity; ontologies; interrelated universe
