This chapter provides new information on the various Islamic dynasties, and expands the revised work on the subject published by Edmund Bosworth in 1996. Much of this new information came to light following the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the increased interest in the history of the republics of Central Asia. Included in the chapter are tables of some lines of rulers in the Siberian steppes during the Mongol invasions to the incorporation of the Siberian lands into the Russian Empire. Because the historical information on these nomadic lines is often sparse and not infrequently contradictory, the results in the chapter should therefore be regarded as provisional and interim.
