This part of the book does not consider the detail of historical events, despite the need for critical examination of the history of the Muslim community after the death of the Prophet, during the time of the caliphs, and the subsequent Umayyad period. Rather, it is concerned with the following questions: 1) Given the nature of the message of Muhammad, why did the first Muslims not practice the message of Muhammad?; and 2) Why did the Companions, the Followers, and those who came after them, adopt solutions which seem unsatisfactory and bogus?

Keywords: Muslim community; Prophet; message; Muhammad
