Much was done to dispel popular myths in the cultural mindset about Victor Herbert. This chapter confines itself to three myths. The first myth is that Herbert's works were so old-fashioned and burdened with such poor books that that were virtually unproducible. The second is that Herbert was unconcerned wit the quality of librettos he set. The third myth is the image of Herbert shows as romances set in cloud-cuckooland.
