This chapter shows that the identification between pragmatism, Dewey, and education was gradually eased throughout the nineteenth century, more precisely in the last decades. In the conclusion of the chapter some observations are made on this phenomenon and the chapter points out the trends that, according to stated beliefs, are present today and may develop in the future. The chapter utilizes two sources, the publication of translations of Dewey's works and the references made to Dewey in articles published in educational journals.
