The Germans had more obligations than resources during World War II, and had to mobilize (and retain in service) manpower that other countries would not have used. This included over-age men, men who had been severely wounded, and men with long-term health problems. This chapter looks at the German circumstances, their policy of using such men, and a case study of how particular division fought.
