This chapter presents some final words about Father Clarence Rivers. Rivers wrote the seminal text for African American Catholic liturgical rites and rituals. Though it was not his express intention to herald Black liturgy, his work emanated from such a deeply spiritual and historical perspective that his personal, spiritual essence poured forth and vested liturgy in her proper universal dress—the gown of Blackness.
