This chapter discusses the revival of St. Benedict's in 1972. On Thursday, October 12, 1972, the tide turned decidedly toward what came to be called the “new school venture” when the monks voted unanimously to plan for the opening of a school. A young Father Edwin Leahy was elected headmaster of the “new” St. Benedict's in 1972. His energetic and visionary leadership has been one of the driving forces behind the resurrected school's extraordinary success over the last four decades. Father Albert Holtz was both a diarist and an organizational genius. His 1972 document, “A Possible School” , became the blueprint for the new school venture.
