The Creswell archive includes three photographs of the turba of Azdumur (al-Zumur) that date, most probably, to the second quarter of the twentieth century. Azdumur min Mahmud Shah al-Zahiri Jaqmaq, known as al-Musartin, had a less illustrious career although he was also a leading amir of al-Ashraf Qaytbay's era. The Creswell photographs cannot provide a complete understanding of a monument or give reliable attribution and dating. They are instructive, however, when combined with other research tools, in helping to provide a more reliable attribution and dating. Critical review of the photographs of the archives is useful for reconstructing and interpreting many monuments hitherto only vaguely understood.
