This chapter describes a quantitative study which was conducted among older Egyptians in Greater Cairo. It first describes the design, the sample, the measurement tools, and the procedures of data collection that were used in this study. Next, it introduces the main characteristics of care service recipients and non-care-service recipients. The different group profiles allow for the identification of factors that contribute to receiving care. This chapter also provides the percentage of care service recipients and non-care-service recipients that accept (or would accept) home care service or nursing homes. Next, it turns to the expectations of non-care-service recipients and identifies the main factors that contribute to their acceptance (or rejection) of home care services and nursing homes. Finally, it looks at the attitudes of care service recipients toward home care services and nursing homes, to see which factors influence their retrospective judgment.
