Tunics from Naqlun

Show Summary Details

This chapter examines the tunics found in the Naqlun archaeological site in the Fayoum Oasis in Egypt. The tunics excavated from the burial ground at Naqlun can be classified into two general types according to the cut. The first is the so-called bag-shaped and the other is similar to the modern gallabiya. The tunics show clear evidence of wear and mechanical damage, except for those made specifically for burial.
