This chapter discusses some of the implications of the argument for a new approach to the issue of positionality in profeminist studies of modernism. It first considers, by way of interpretations of Lawrence's work, some contemporary efforts on the part of male scholars to investigate and to complicate, narrative constructions of masculinity in modernist writing. It is also points out the fact that concepts of performance have been vital to the study presented in the book.
