This concluding chapter sums up the key findings of this study on nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. It summarizes the main lessons that can be learned in the cases of Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Libya, and Saudi Arabia and discusses unsuccessful efforts to rid the Middle East of nuclear weapons. It discusses the question of peace or disarmament in establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone (NWFZ) in the Middle East and suggests that a conflict-ridden region like the Middle East does not provide the right environment for creating and maintaining a NWFZ.
