This chapter discusses the periods of cooperation with Joyce, during which Beckett developed his own writing method by gradually taking his distance from Joyce's. It can be observed that the principle of “less-ness” applies to Beckett's works in that each of his works can be regarded, not just as a monolithic text, but also as a fluid succession of particular versions.
