This chapter presents the conclusions on the phenomenon of Brazilian popular modernism. It starts by challenging the definition of popular in the Brazilian context and proceeds to discuss the universality of the debate surrounding popular modernism. It then explores the uniqueness of the phenomenon after placing popular modernism within the modern/postmodern debate. In addition, it argues that popular modernism is rooted in local issues but is also linked to global themes. It ends with a discussion of lessons to be learned from the study of popular modernism. It is hoped that this investigation of popular modernism will serve as a modest contribution to architectural scholarship and an even more modest addition to the reinterpretation of the modern movement currently in progress.
