This chapter describes a case study concerning ethnic diversity in reproductive health behavior in the Ch'orti' area in eastern Guatemala. It examines the use of family planning and pregnancy-related care as indicators of reproductive health behavior among different ethnic groups and suggests that the campesinos and urban dwellers of the Ch'orti' area are representative of ethnically divergent reproductive practices in other parts of Guatemala. The findings reveal that ethnicity significantly determined acceptance of modern pregnancy-related care and use of family planning when other variables were controlled.
