Ceramics are the most ubiquitous artifacts identified at the farming community of Chan and other Maya sites. Approximately 321,000 ceramic sherds and vessels were identified at Chan. This chapter develops the long history in archaeology of ceramic analysis and presents the 2000-year Chan chronology, which is based upon ceramic analysis and radio carbon dating.
