The Maya farming community of Chan was a diverse community. This chapter focuses on Chan's Northeast Group, a neighborhood located roughly 1 kilometer to the east of Chan's community center. The mid-level farming families (mid-level between small farming households and the households of Chan's community leaders) at the Northeast Group are the head families of this subgroup of the community.
