These include the making of a sequel to Doktor Mabuse, der Spieler entitled Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse (The Last Will of Dr. Mabuse); the rise of the Nazis and their hate-filled propaganda; the growing rumors that Lang was a Jew; German Board of Film Censors’s banning of Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse because it posed “a threat to law and order and public safety—in accordance with a regulation to be found in the Law of Censorship,”; and Lang’s departure of Berlin for Paris to escape the Nazis.
