It is said that libraries help distinguish Macao from Hong Kong. This chapter discusses the different libraries located in Macao, such as the library on Coloane Island. It is a little classical structure with a façade of six fluted pillars whose capitals are an imitation of the classical Ionic order. Photographs of the interior and exterior of the libraries are provided, which show that the libraries are all located in the midst of a crowded space.
