With great difficulty, and under heavy gunfire, the party made their way to the island of Ap Lei Chau, just off Aberdeen, as this chapter explains. Admiral Chan Chak lost his wooden leg in the water and was hit in the wrist by a bullet from the Japanese. They regrouped, found shelter, and considered what to do. The motor torpedo boats came into view and members of the party scrambled to join them. But Admiral Chan was missing.
