On December 28, the escape party, guided by local guerrillas, continued their journey and reached Xinxu, the first outpost of Free China unoccupied by Japanese forces. They lodged for the night at the walled village of Dashanxia, near to Zhenlong. This chapter describes the experiences of members of the escape party on the way, and in particular their conversations with various guerillas.
