This chapter examines Benjamin Franklin's career during the period from 1786 to 1790. He served as president of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania from 1785 to 1788 and was also appointed delegate to the Federal Constitutional Convention of 1787. During this period, Franklin was hardly able to perform his duties because of his many ills. However, he continued writing humorous material for friends and for the local press.
