This chapter examines the Egyptian Expeditionary Force's (EEF) campaign in the Jordan Valley. In August 1918, the British forces launched an attack to capture Es Salt. However, the British attack soon degenerated into a welter of confusion because of the alacrity and strength of the Turkish response and despite repeated and costly attacks, the 60th Division made little headway against the main Turkish defenses. This chapter also highlights the declining moral of General Edmund Allenby's men.
