This concluding chapter sums up the key findings of this study on the history of mechanization of the U.S. Army cavalry during the first half of the twentieth century. The results reveal the misguided mystique of the horse and its use in the cavalry. The chapter provides insights into how the mechanized cavalry men made the necessary adjustments during World War II to advance the role of their combat arm and explains the effect of post-war American attitudes and the international turmoil on the future of U.S. Cavalry and its leadership.
