Preseason Preparation

The preseason basketball drills alternate offense and defense, as well as fast and calm. Early in the semester the offensive moves are pretty basic, working on the fundamentals of shooting, passing, and dribbling. The individual drills may occur on the same day players have lifted weights in the morning or conducted a workout for a recruit in the afternoon. They require the kind of intensity and stamina that each player will need throughout the 13-week preseason that runs from August 21 to November 21. The basic rhythm of workouts, conditioning, open gym, and drills continue until October 15, when actual team practises can begin. Nancy Winstel was very clear in reiterating the academic policies of the team. With regard to their physical exams, Winstel announced that everybody was in pretty good shape.
