This chapter tells the story of Company A, 72d Tank Battalion, 2d Infantry Division, and the 1st Royal Australian Regiment in support of the ROK 6th Division. The Chinese had planned a massive attack of the South Korean division so that they could exploit the gap and attack the flanks of the adjacent American divisions and then into the UN rear. The Korean division was overwhelmed by the attack and the US artillery support was forced to withdraw. The next day, the British Commonwealth Brigade, joined by the Royal Australian Regiment, was called in for support and engaged the Chinese in combat. The Communist forces were eventually forced to retreat as the units combined their efforts.
