This chapter presents a biography of the Colón Opera House and examines the social trajectory of the opera fanatics who occupy the upper floors of the Colón Opera House. It presents the life stories of six opera fans and investigates whether certain characteristics will make someone more apt to love opera. This chapter discusses the background patterns that the fans share, including the lack of explicit social class and education patterns, migration to mostly middle-class and upper middle-class areas of the city and the liklihood of living alone.
